BeforeGo Privacy Policy

BeforeGo helps you plan trips, manage checklists, and save travel memories. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.

Information We Use

BeforeGo may store trip details, destinations, dates, checklist items, notes, photos, voice memories, place information you choose to add, travel guides and booking confirmations you import, app preferences, purchase entitlement status, and basic app diagnostics or analytics.

If you grant microphone, camera, photo, or location access, BeforeGo uses that permission only for the feature you requested, such as recording a voice memory, adding a photo, or attaching a place to a memory.

How Information Is Used

We use information to provide trip planning, checklist, widget, Live Activity, memory, purchase, support, analytics, and app improvement features.

BeforeGo does not sell your personal information.

Storage And Sharing

Your trip content is stored on your device unless a system service you enable, such as iCloud backup or widgets, stores or displays it according to Apple settings.

BeforeGo may use Apple services for purchases and device features. VIP purchases are processed by Apple In-App Purchase. BeforeGo receives product and entitlement status, not your full payment card details.

BeforeGo may use Firebase or Apple services for analytics, crash diagnostics, product improvement, and purchase-related operation. These analytics services may collect app usage data and a device identifier used to measure product interaction and improve the app. BeforeGo does not use this data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy commitments.

AI Features

Some optional features send content to an AI provider, and only when you ask them to:

• Travel Lens sends the photo you take or select, to return a translation and explanation.
• Guide import sends the screenshots, text and link you add, to turn a travel guide or your own itinerary into checklist items, places and a day-by-day plan. For a link, BeforeGo opens the page on your device and sends the text of that page.
• The booking reader sends the confirmation text you paste and the images or PDF you add, to fill in your flights, stays and rides. A PDF's own text is sent when it has some; otherwise its first pages are sent as images.
• Voice transcription sends the recording you choose, and writes the text it returns into your note. Recording a voice memory by itself sends nothing.
• AI check on a place in your trip sends the place's name, its name in the local language, and your trip's destination, to look up details such as opening hours and tickets on the web. No photos, notes or other personal content are sent with it.

Before any photo or screenshot is sent, it is resized, compressed, and re-rendered on your device, which removes metadata such as GPS location.

BeforeGo uses one of two AI providers, chosen by which one your network can reach: Google's Gemini API through Firebase AI Logic, or — where that Google host is unreachable, which is the case on mainland-China networks — Alibaba Cloud's DashScope (Qwen) service. Google is used whenever it is available, with one exception: AI check always uses Alibaba Cloud's Qwen, whose web search is what looks the place up. Each provider processes the request under its own applicable terms and data-governance practices.

BeforeGo does not operate server storage for these uploads and does not retain what is sent on servers controlled by BeforeGo. What you choose to keep is stored on your device and may be included in your personal iCloud data when iCloud sync is enabled: a saved Travel Lens result and its photo, a recording and its text, and a saved guide together with the material you added to it (screenshots, text, and the link with the page text read from it).

Travel Lens, guide import, the booking reader, and voice transcription each ask for your consent before their first upload, and ask again if what they send or where they send it changes. AI check runs only when you tap it.

If you copy a link or an image, BeforeGo may notice that the clipboard holds one — without reading it — and offer to import it as a guide. The clipboard is read only when you choose to paste, and iOS may ask for your permission first. Content you share to BeforeGo from another app is kept on your device as a guide to organize later; it is sent to an AI provider only when you ask BeforeGo to organize it.

To show approximate price conversions, BeforeGo also requests exchange rates from Frankfurter using currency codes only; photos, recordings, and personal content are not sent to that service. AI-generated results may be inaccurate, so verify important details such as allergens, schedules, bookings, opening hours, prices, and legal notices against the original.

Place Search And Maps

When you search for a place — to attach a location to a trip note, a check-in, or a plan row — the text you type and an approximate area around your trip's destination are sent to a maps provider so it can return matching places. BeforeGo uses Apple Maps, or Google Maps Platform for destinations outside mainland China. Where Google can't be reached, as on mainland-China networks, places abroad are searched with Photon, a service run by komoot on OpenStreetMap data, and the place name you typed may be sent to Alibaba Cloud's Qwen to translate it into the name used locally. Your trip content, notes, and photos are not sent with a place search; only the search text and the destination area used to rank results. Each provider processes the request under its own terms and privacy commitments. A place you choose is stored on your device with your trip.

When a place in your trip or in a saved guide has no photo of your own, BeforeGo may look up the Wikipedia article with that place's exact name and show its lead picture. Only the place name is sent to Wikipedia (operated by the Wikimedia Foundation). The picture is kept in a cache on your device and is not added to your trip or to your iCloud data.

If you grant location access, your device location may be used to offer nearby places and to show your position on a map. This is optional: place search works without it, and you can change the permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Permissions

You can change app permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some features may stop working if a required permission is disabled.

Data Control

You can delete trips, notes, memories, and checklist content inside the app. You can also contact the app owner through the support channel listed on the App Store product page for privacy support.

Children

BeforeGo is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The latest version should be available from the app and from the public Privacy Policy URL listed in App Store Connect.
