Two things most countdown apps get wrong
The widget is the entire point of a countdown app, and the events are the entire point of the widget. Most apps charge for the first and cap the second.
| Typical countdown app | This one | |
|---|---|---|
| Widgets | Locked behind Pro, or one size only | Every size, Home and Lock Screen, free |
| Events | Three to five on the free tier | Unlimited, permanently |
| Reminders | Pro feature | Free, on the day and as far ahead as you want |
| Your data | Gone after a bad update or a reinstall | Backed up on device daily, 30 days of history |
| What Pro sells | The features you already needed | Backdrops. Nothing that makes the app work |
The rest of it
Count down, or count up
To a date, or from one. Repeats yearly, monthly, weekly, or every few days.
Nothing leaves your phone
A snapshot of everything on this device every single day, and always before anything risky. One tap to restore.
Days that passed are kept
Finished countdowns collect into a timeline you can look back through, with the longest wait of each year written next to it.
The moment itself
At a hundred days, a week, or the morning of, the app opens on the number, full screen, and hands you a card worth sharing.
Set up in one tap
Thirty-six ready-made events, each already carrying the right repeat and reminders. Two hundred drawn icons and the whole emoji keyboard.
Bring your events with you
Import from a calendar, a spreadsheet, or another countdown app — and export any time. iCloud sync, with no account to make.
Questions people ask
Is there a countdown widget app for iPhone that is actually free?
Yes. In Countdown Widget: Any Event every widget size works on both the Home Screen and the Lock Screen without paying, and the number of events is unlimited. Reminders, repeats and count-up are free as well. The paid tier only unlocks backdrops.
How many countdowns can I create on the free tier?
There is no limit. Most countdown apps cap the free tier at three to five events; this one does not cap it at any tier.
Can it count up from a date that already passed?
Yes. Any event can count down to a date or count up from one, and repeats can be yearly, monthly, weekly or every few days.
What happens to my countdowns if the app updates badly or I reinstall?
The app takes a snapshot of everything on the device once a day, and always before anything risky. Thirty days of history are kept and any snapshot restores in one tap. iCloud sync is available and needs no account.
What does Countdown Widget Pro cost, and what does it unlock?
Pro unlocks 90 of the 122 backdrops, with a new drop every month. It is US$14.99 per year with a 7-day free trial, US$4.99 per month, or US$29.99 once for Lifetime. Countdowns, reminders and widgets behave identically with or without it.
Does it need an account or an internet connection?
No account and no sign-up. The app works offline; iCloud sync uses your own Apple Account when you turn it on.
About Pro
Pro sells the finish, never the function. It unlocks the Pro backdrops — 90 of the 122 — with a new drop every month. Whatever you unlock while subscribed stays yours for good; cancelling only stops the new ones arriving. Your countdowns, reminders and widgets work exactly the same whether you subscribe or not.
US$14.99 per year with a 7-day free trial, or US$4.99 per month. A one-time Lifetime purchase is US$29.99 and does not renew.
Hear about real updates
A new backdrop drop lands every month, and occasionally something bigger. No schedule, no newsletter — just an email from the developer when there is something to say.
