DailyCalorie Privacy Policy

Effective 7 August 2026 · 生效日期 2026 年 8 月 7 日

DailyCalorie (“the app”) is a calorie and weight logging app for iPhone. This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes, and what it never does. It applies to the DailyCalorie iOS app only.

The short version. There is no account to create. Your records live on your device and sync through your own iCloud, which we cannot read. The one thing that leaves your phone by design is a meal photo you choose to have recognised, and it is sent only to run that recognition.

1. What the app handles

Meal photos

When you take or pick a photo for food recognition, the app downscales it and sends it to a vision model to identify the food and estimate calories and macronutrients. Which service receives it depends on where you are: in mainland China the photo goes to Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (DashScope); everywhere else it goes to Google’s Gemini through Firebase AI Logic. The photo is sent for that single request and is not stored on our servers — we do not operate a server that keeps your photos. Each provider’s handling is governed by its own privacy terms. If you never use photo recognition, no image ever leaves your device.

Your profile and records

The app stores what you enter: an optional display name, sex, age, height, current and goal weight, target date, weekly pace, activity level, and your food, exercise and weight entries. This is kept on your device and synced between your own Apple devices through Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit private database). It is stored under your Apple Account, and the developer has no access to it.

Diagnostics and usage

The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand which screens are used and to receive crash reports. These collect events, device model, OS version, coarse region and crash diagnostics. They are not used to identify you, and your food entries, photos, weight and profile are never sent to them.

Motion

The app reads device motion to make the markers inside the calorie window drift with gravity. This is used for on-screen animation only and never leaves your device.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. The app receives only whether a valid subscription exists. We never see your payment details.

2. What the app does not do

3. Permissions you can revoke

Camera, Photos and Motion & Fitness are each requested only when first needed, and you can withdraw any of them at any time in iOS Settings › DailyCalorie. The rest of the app keeps working without them; only the feature that needs a given permission stops.

4. Keeping and deleting your data

Records stay until you delete them. You can delete individual entries in the app, and deleting the app together with its iCloud data removes them from your devices and from your iCloud storage. Pro subscribers can export the full history to CSV before deleting. Because the developer holds no copy of your records, there is nothing further for us to erase; if you have a question about this, write to us at the address below.

5. Children

DailyCalorie is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

6. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top will change and the updated policy will be posted at this address.
